The Integrative Medicine & Holistic Health Association is a new organization that aims to assist corporations in providing innovative employee healthcare benefits with an integrative twist. The Association is building a community of like-minded integrative practitioners including: naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, chiropractors, functional nutrition practitioners, integrative MDs, NPs, PAs (with verified integrative training), etc. Naturopathic physicians who wish to participate must have graduated from a CNME-accredited school of naturopathic medicine and have a current license in good standing. The Association welcomes NDs in all states, even states that do not license NDs.
The Association was founded by acupuncturist Geoff DePaula. “Our vision is to completely transform the current disease-centered model of healthcare in the U.S. into a proactive, integrative and holistic medicine paradigm of health care,” says DePaula.
the Asssociation is not a discount network..."[the] goal is to prove in the real world, with real people, in real dollars, that integrative medicine is more cost-effective and has better outcomes..."
Health “Strategists” in participating corporations will refer employees to local holistic practitioners who are a part of the practitioner network. The program will use a comprehensive HIPAA-secure Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, which will enable collaboration between all practitioners no matter what software system the current provider is using. The EMR includes: the practitioner’s notes (including audio and video files), x-rays, MRIs, medications, supplements, herbs, biometric labs, risk factors, health goals, and a list of practitioners providing care to the patient.
Unlike traditional insurance company networks, the Asssociation is not a discount network. According to DePaula, “Our goal is to prove in the real world, with real people, in real dollars, that integrative medicine is more cost-effective and has better outcomes than conventional care alone.”
The Association will be launching in June 2013. If you are interested in joining the network or would like to learn more about it, visit www.imholistichealth.org
