Jud Richland, MPH, MPA, CEO

Jud was appointed CEO of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians in July 2012.  As CEO, he is responsible for AANP’s federal and state advocacy efforts, for increasing public awareness of naturopathic medicine, and for helping to expand the body of naturopathic medicine research.  He leads AANP’s efforts to expand continuing naturopathic medical education offerings, to help members build successful practices, and to collaborate with organizations that share AANP’s mission of advancing prevention-oriented, whole person care.
Jud’s previous experience includes two stints as President of Partnership for Prevention.  Partnership is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to advocate for national health promotion and disease prevention policies.  He served for seven years as Executive Director of the American College of Preventive Medicine, the national specialty society for physicians trained in preventive medicine.  Jud served for eight years as Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director of the Public Health Foundation, a national nonprofit organization committed to improving public health practice through research, training, and technical assistance.  He also worked for eight years for the General Accounting Office – an arm of the U.S. Congress – carrying out evaluations of important federal programs and investigating allegations of fraud and abuse in federal programs.
Jud received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley, a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University, and a master’s degree in public affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas.
