The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) is the only professional organization in the United States representing the interests of licensed and licensable naturopathic physicians. Association by-laws require that all Regular Members have graduated from institutions that are accredited, or are candidates for accreditation, by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) - the programmatic accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Each of these institutions is a four-year, residential, doctoral program. In addition, Regular Members must either hold a valid license to practice or be an active member of a recognized AANP State Affiliate.
The AANP Mission is to “serve our members by advancing the profession of naturopathic medicine and preserving its integrity.” Our vision is to transform the healthcare system from a disease management system to a comprehensive health program incorporating the principles of naturopathic medicine. Every day we work to: educate the public on how Naturopathic Doctors use natural medicine; increase access to naturopathic medicine; obtain passage of licensure laws in all remaining states; and, positively influence the future health of our Nation.
