This has been a great year for the ILANP! We hosted our First Annual Conference November 16-17 at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. The conference was a great success according to attendees, students, and vendors alike. Keynote speakers included Drs. Timothy Birdsall and Lise Alschuler. The conference also began a new award tradition for the ILANP: President’s Award and Henry Lindlahr Award. The president’s award was given to Dr. James F. Winterstein, President Emeritus, honoring his vision and leadership in advancing the naturopathic profession in Illinois. The Henry Lindlahr Award was given to Dr. Fraser Smith, Assistant Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at NUHS. The 2014 ILANP Conference will be held on October 11-12--save the date!

One of the high priorities for the ILANP in 2013 was to focus on licensing efforts. The ILANP now has a Bill in both the House and Senate: Senate Bill 1168, sponsored Sen. Iris Martinez (D-20th, Chicago), and House Bill 3645, sponsored by Rep. JoAnn Osmond (R-61st, Antioch). Our efforts are focused on educating the lawmakers and energizing our grassroots supporters at this point. We hope to see movement on each of these Bills in 2014. We encourage the AANP membership to contact us with any support you can provide.

We are so proud of all of our success in 2013 and look forward to continuing the momentum into 2014!
