The Maryland Senate has overwhelmingly approved a bill to license NDs following on the heels of the House of Delegates days earlier. The Maryland Association of Naturopathic Physicians (MDANP) is optimistic the governor will sign the bill.

This success caps 4 years of intensive and creative effort by MDANP and its lobbying team to educate state legislators and the medical community about the value of naturopathic medicine. In the words of Emily Telfair, ND, the association’s president, “I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished! Throughout this process, we knew that passing this bill was not just about supporting our own practices, but paving the way for the next generation of healers in our field. Here's to the future of our medicine and that future looks bright!”

Other state associations are pushing for both licensure and scope expansion; AANP expects further achievements in due course, and we’ll apprise all members in Naturopathic Now.
