Probiotics have aroused increasing interest in recent years as reflected by a fast-growing market for probiotic containing dietary supplements, foods, and beverages. However, misuse of the term probiotic has also become a major issue, which has contributed to widespread confusion and propagation of misinformation among both consumers and healthcare professionals. The probiotic marketplace can be very confusing with the overarching need of
consumers and healthcare practitioners to be able to recognize products of high quality that can be reasonably anticipated to positively influence the users’ health for its intended application. This AANP webinar will help NDs better understand probiotic supplements and their efficacy.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand a probiotic supplement label and identify true probiotic strains.
- List practical, evidence-based recommendations for true probiotic based health interventions.
- Describe methods to educate clients how to identify and choose probiotic supplements for a desired health outcome.
